India losing global edge in BPO market

BPOIndia has lost about 10 per cent share of the global BPO market in the last five years to destinations like China, the Philippines and Brazil, raising concerns for the $20-billion Indian BPO industry. According Nasscom, in FY13, IT services would account for USD 50 billion, while Business Process Management (BPM or BPO) and Engineering services would contribute USD 20 billion and USD 10 billion, respectively.

BPO INDUSTRY MAY CLOCK 12-15% GROWTH IN FY14

bpo-2The $20-billion Indian business process outsourcing (BPO) industry is expected to clock a double-digit growth, around 12-15%, for the financial year 2013-14, driven by high-end transformational services, according to industry experts. BPO companies are betting big on areas like banking, financial services and accounting, supply chain and healthcare to drive its next phase of growth. In the global BPO sourcing market, India’s share is pegged at about 37%. The sector employs close to a million people currently. Outsourcing majors like EXLServices, WNS and Genpact are confident of growth in the range of 12-16%, surpassing Nasscom’s 12-14% forecast for the IT-ITes industry. Source
